Equity benchmarks extended upside for the second consecutive session on Monday, closing at fresh 52-week high on consistent inflow of foreign money, and positive global cues after US payroll data. Overall it was a consolidation today as investors turned cautious ahead of RBI monetary policy. The 30-share BSE Sensex was up 104.22 points at 28,182.57 and the 50-share NSE Nifty gained 28.20 points at 8711.35. Asian indices closed with high positive leads. Nikkei with 396 points up closed at 16650, Hang Seng with 348 points lead closed at 22494 and Shanghai Composite with 20 points lead closed at 3004. Indian currency Rupee with weakness of 6 paise closed at 66.83 against US Dollar. Overall 1540 shares advanced, 1219 shares declined and 153 shares remained unchanged. Nifty Midcap hiked 90 points to 14917 and BSE MidCap closed at 12824 with 125 points hike.
