Indian benchmark indices NSE Nifty and BSE Sensex closed in red posting marginal losses of 0.3% followed by an attempt to open and trade on a positive note in the initial one hour of the trading session and falling in the later session. Broader markets too retreated and closed more or less in line with the benchmarks. Obviously, the market breadth turned negative with 1184 advances and 1539 share declines. On the sectoral front, IT continued its poor run with the sectoral index loosing more than 2.8%. BSE Sensex closed 119 points down at 26759 and NSE Nifty dropped down 30 points at 8243.
BSE Small Cap dropped 53 points at 12440, BSE Midcap lost 33 points at 12321 and Nifty Midcap dropped 21 points at 14854.
