The 30-share index BSE Sensex gained 0.4% to 27,245 while the 50-share index NSE Nifty rose 0.3% to 8,407. The Bank Nifty Index gained 0.2% making it a sixth day of advance for the sectoral gauge. Also, the BSE FMCG index was the worst performer among the 19 sectoral gauges on the BSE, followed by BSE Auto and BSE Pharma Index.
Asian Market Indices were down after the US president Donald Trumph speech. Nikkei declined 229 points at 19134, Hang Seng lost 106 points at 22829 and Shanghai Composite dropped 17 points at 3119.
Analysts are hoping that December quarter earnings will be healthy for the market. Expert says based on a bottom-up aggregate of estimates, the Sensex is likely to post earnings growth of 15.4 percent YoY in the December 2016 quarter.
