Indian technology giants, Infosys and TCS dragged markets in today’s session forcing markets to close in red. Both Sensex and Nifty retreated from the very first tick where the Nifty closed just at the 8400 mark while Sensex closed at 27238.06 shedding 9.10 points from the previous close.
Broader markets remained lethargic throughout the day and market bias remained negative with 1216 advances and 1494 declines. Apart from IT Index that tumbled 1.4%, Auto Index was the second worst performer which dragged the markets with 0.9% losses.
On the contrary, FMCG surged 1.4% with ITC and Tata Global closing higher by 2% each. Axis Bank, ITC and GAIL that sprang up during the concluding session, were the main gainers while telecom majors, Idea and TCS were the top losers with 4% and more losses.
