Stocks were on a hot streak as Nifty index hit a lifetime high of 10,179.15 as a record high in intraday. All the key stocks ended in green with broader markets continuing to outperform, in the week ended Friday.
Nifty futures registered fresh long formation during the day with a boost in open interest. Bank Nifty also registered a vertical surge mainly on account of long buildup with a rise in open interest.
While the Nifty has made a new high in Sept, markets are waiting for the Sensex to cross the fresh highs made in August. With the Diwali festive mood, markets are expected to do best in the October month.
The BSE Sensex was up 250.47 points at 32,432.69 and the NSE Nifty rose 71.10 points to 10,167.50 on closing. About 1431 shares fell against 1293 rising shares on the BSE. A total of 79 stocks clocked a fresh 52-week high today, whereas 18 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
