Markets witness minor recovery trimming some losses amid a weak undertone in afternoon hours. The Nifty50 index was trading 182 points down at 10,483.75 post lunch hour’s deals on Tuesday following heavy selling across sectors, while BSE Sensex was trading at 33,250 levels, down 506 points.
The Nifty FMCG index was trading 1.69% with FMCG stocks such as Godrej Consumer Products (down 3.11%), Tata Global Beverages (down 2.82%) and GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (down 2.83%).
Shares of Colgate-Palmolive (down 1.51%), Hindustan Unilever (down 2.11%), Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Healthcare (down 2.40%), Britannia Industries (down 0.86%), ITC (down 0.72 %), United Spirits (down 0.66%) and Marico (down 0.24%) were also down in the Nifty FMCG index.
SBI stock fell 1.95% after the bank to consider proposal for raising equity capital by way of preferential allotment of shares to the govt to tune of Rs. 88 billion.
Shares of Bajaj finance, Tata Steel, ICICI BANK, Axis bank, Eicher Motors were gaining while Tata motors, HCL Tech, The Mahindra, TCS and Zee Entertainment were losers.
